Project Talking Football is a community football project for local men aged 18+ in partnership with Minster FC.
Why PTF?
We all face moments in life where everything just feels too much. Sometimes, that can lead us to serious questions about ourselves and our self worth.
PTF exists to challenge the stigma around mental health and help men to be honest about feelings, and to prevent negative feelings from growing to something worse.
What can I expect?
Structured football sessions including various fitness and skill drills, mindfulness discussions, and of course a friendly game.
PTF encourages opportunities for participants to talk and open up honestly, in a welcoming and supportive football environment.
PTF is completely free. There is no financial cost, ever.
However there is an expectation that you’ll take part in the talking, and will be encouraged to say how you are feeling.
Do I have to come every week?
We prefer participants to come regularly, as this is how you get more out of the sessions. It is not compulsory however you may lose your place if you haven’t attended for several weeks in a row
PTF runs from 8-9pm on Monday nights at Minster Astro – we typically have 2 drills and 5-10minutes of talking together in the session.
Minster Astro pitch is at the back of the Minster Recreation Ground. For Sat Navs, follow directions for the Minster Bowls club.
Registration is compulsory to attend any session.
No! Only what you are comfortable saying.
PTF is about your feelings and helping you to find ways to cope with the stress life throws at us. Many participants just say how they feel, and thats all, which is fine. The sessions are encouraging and supportive wherever you are at in your mental health journey.
Register interest Today & start feeling better about life
Registering interest doesn’t commit you to anything. We’ll be in touch after you submit the form.
”The project has given me something to focus on and look forward to each week. Knowing I’m not alone in how I feel has been a big help.
